Neighborhood Debris

We respond to complaints about large amounts of debris on private property if the debris is a threat to public health, such as housing rodents or breeding mosquitoes.

If we find a health threat, we contact the person responsible for that property (usually the property owner), and direct them to remove and properly dispose of the debris.

Property owners are responsible for removing and properly disposing of debris on their property. Salt Lake County Health Department does not remove or dispose of debris on private property.

We do not respond to reports about common litter.

Contact your city's zoning or code/civil enforcement office to report a large amount of debris that is a concern but is not a threat to public health.
