Bingham Creek Regional Park Open House
Clayton Scrivner -
South Jordan, UT – The public is invited to an open house to learn more about the updated master
plan for Bingham Creek Regional Park on Thursday, March 28 from 6-8
pm. The event, to be held at Golden Fields Elementary School (10252
Split Rock Drive, South Jordan), will provide helpful information to residents
regarding the park’s design and Phase I of construction.
“Bingham Creek Regional Park will be a jewel in the southwest part of the Salt Lake Valley. It is an example of not only our resident’s belief in the power of parks, but also how through collaboration with South Jordan City we are able to deliver more,” said Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson. “We invite residents of the community to come in and learn more about how this park will serve the diverse needs of residents for generations to come.”
Bingham Creek Regional Park will be located at 10200 South 4800 West at what has been known as Welby Pit. The 160-acre site has been used as a gravel pit, landfill, and equipment storage for the county over the years. Parks and Recreation staff has been working with state and local officials on several environmental remediation efforts on the site to ensure the park meets the requirements necessary to begin construction.
Phase one of Bingham Creek Regional Park will include sports fields, a destination playground, picnic shelters, restrooms, and walking paths throughout the entire site.
The project is made possible in part by the 2016 Parks and Recreation Bond passed by Salt Lake County residents and a contribution from South Jordan City.
