Reports & Assessments

Criminal Justice Services offers Presentence Reports (PSR), Release Recommendation Reports, as well as several evidence-based assessments.

The purpose of these reports and assessment unit is to:

  • Interview clients and provide release recommendation reports and presentence reports to the court
  • Initiate probation and Specialty Court supervision with the administration of the LSCMI

If you were court ordered to complete a Presentence Report you will need to call (385) 468-3500 to schedule an appointment.

If you were ordered to complete Probation or to be screened for a Specialty Court you will need to complete a Risk/Needs Assessment. Please call (385) 468-3500 to schedule your appointment.

  • Individual must be in Salt Lake County jail
  • Receive qualifying score from the Public Safety Assessment (PSA)
  • Have no federal or Department of Corrections holds or commitments
  • Nature/level of the charge is violent/sexual or charged as Felony 1 or 2
  • A period of 14 days from the date the Court emails the referral to the next hearing is required

Report will be sent to the court, prosecutor and defense attorney.

  • Class A and B misdemeanors regardless of weapon, etc.)
  • CJS does not accept Class C Misdemeanor or Felony referrals
  • Individuals pay a $30 PSR fee at the time of service
  • A period of 45 days from PSR referral to sentencing is required from the courts.

  • Report will be sent to the court, prosecutor, and defense attorney.
  • You will have an opportunity to review the report with your attorney prior to sentencing so if you believe there are any inaccuracies, your attorney can address that with the Judge prior to sentencing.
  • The Judge will determine your sentence.

No.  As of January 1, 2023, Criminal Justice Services no longer assesses fees. This allows clients to focus monetary responsibilities on treatment, court fines, and basic needs.
