Division of Youth Services
After School Program
The After School Program serves as a safe place for youth to go to learn new skills and spend time with their friends in a safe environment. Youth Services currently runs four After School Programs in Kearns,West Valley City and Magna with efforts to expand the program to other areas. The program is held on site at schools in these areas. Parents need to fill out a Registration Form for their youth to be able to attend. This is available either at the school or by contacting the After School Program Coordinators individually. Activities include academic support, filmmaking, skateboarding, snowboarding, DJ classes, dance, arts, sports, service projects throughout the community, and off-site field trips.
Students who attend the program have reported an increase in their attendance at school, improved their grades and an increase of self-worth.
During the school year, hours for the program are from 2:45 to 6 PM. Summer programs are also available.
This program is run in collaboration with Salt Lake County Library Services, Parks and Recreation Department and Aging Services. For more information about the After School Program, contact Program Manager Kelly Riding at firstname.lastname@example.org.
