The County Archives has historical County government records dating from 1852 to the late 1990's. A sample of these records includes territorial records such as minutes, correspondence, and ledgers from various County offices such as the Clerk, Assessor, Treasurer, and the Territorial Selectmen. More contemporary records include annual reports, building permits, property appraisal cards, photographs, tax ledgers, Board of Health minutes, and minutes and correspondence from the Board of County Commissioners. For specific information on records holdings contact the County Archives directly.

We have historical photographs of homes and businesses that are part of the property tax appraisal photographs series for the years 1936-1991. They usually show the front of the building and may show architectural details. Duplicates are available at cost. Contact the archivist for details.

How do I access the records?

Research is now by appointment only. The public may call or email to make a request or to schedule a research appointment. Most records are in paper format and some are on microfilm. Local researchers are encouraged to visit the Archives, 4505 South 5600 West, West Valley City, UT 84120, to conduct their own research or may call the Archives weekdays noon to 5pm, 801-963-7330, to make arrangements for copies of requested materials to be mailed to them. Due to limited staffing the Archives does not conduct in-depth research for patrons.

Requests for records can be made by phone 801 963-7330, fax 801 963-7397 or Email.
