What are your library hours?
Regular library hours:
Monday - Thursday 10 am - 9 pm
Friday - Saturday 10 am - 6 pm
Closed Sundays and legal holidays
How do I get a library card?
Library cards will be issued to individuals at least 18 years old and present a current Utah driver's license, driving privilege card or Utah ID card with a current address. If the license or ID cards does not contain a current address, picture ID will be accepted with one of the following:
- Current lease agreement
- Current utility bill
- Deed or mortgage (with address)
- Current car registration
- Current pay check stub with address
Children ages 5-17 may obtain a library card by visiting the library with a parent or guardian, following the same procedure as described for an adult card.
The parent or guardian must sign for approval.
Cards are free to residents of Salt Lake County. Replacement cards are $3. Non-residents may purchase a card by paying an annual fee of $80 or $40 for six months.
How many items can I borrow?
Thirty (30) items can be borrowed at one time on a card. New cardholders will be limited to five (5) items for the first month.
Can I let others check out items using my card?
Cards are non-transferable and may be used only by the person named on the account.
What do I need to do if I lose my library card?
Lost cards should be reported immediately. Call 801 943-4636.
How do I renew materials?
To renew an item:
- Access your library account online at www.slco.lib.ut.us and renew your own materials
- Call the library at 801 943-4636
- Call TeleCirc at 801 944-1384
- Bring the item(s) back to the library for check out
Can I reserve an item?
Yes. To reserve an item:
- Access the library catalog online at www.slco.lib.ut.us and place a "hold" using your library card
- Call the library at 801 943-4636
What happens if I lose or damage a borrowed item?
Fees for lost or damaged items will be charged to the cardholder's account. Cardholders will be charged a flat fee of $5 if damaged items are returned and can be repaired.
Can I rent a meeting room?
Meeting rooms are available in most Salt Lake County Library Branches. While there is no charge to use the room, there is a small cleaning deposit. Rooms may be reserved by calling 801 943-4636.
