Salt Lake County is in the process of master planning for a community center in the East Millcreek area. The site is located on Evergreen Avenue and currently houses a library, recreation center, and a park with pavilion, playing fields and other amenities. With the age of the park and existing buildings combined with the need for additional services, the County is looking at ways to provide these and other services while accommodating the growing and changing needs of the community. Since the site poses a challenge to accomplish this task, the County is interested in obtaining input from the surrounding communities as part of the master planning process. We invite you to participate in a variety of ways.

Upcoming Public Meetings - A draft Master Plan ducument will be presented to the Mayor and the County Council in the near future. The date hasn't been determined yet. Please stay tuned to this web site for future public input opportunities. Once the Master Plan document is finalized the respective Community Councils will recieve an informational update.

Project Update

February 13th: Approximately 30 to 40 residents met with County Staff and VCBO architects in an open house to discuss two options for positioning the building and parking on the site. Residents commented on the pros and cons of each option. Many good comments we received that will be taken into axccount as the designers prepare the final Master Plan document.

    • Combined Buildings Option - Image 2

December 5th & 8th: Approximately 60 to 80 residents met with County Staff and VCBO architects in multiple small workshops to discuss various conceptual ideas for positioning the building and parking on the site. Residents created over two dozen variations of the five concepts presented by VCBO architects. There were many very good concepts and ideas presented to the designers by the community. VCBO and County staff members will meet to review design concepts.

November 15, 2007: Over 180 residents met with County staff and VCBO Architects to discuss the results of the questionaire mailed out on October 6th. Handouts from the meeting are available for download below. Many varied comments were heard and recorded. Staff encouraged residents to participate in the next meeting to view initial design concepts that will illustrate possible alternatives given the site limitations and priorities set forth by the community.

October 6, 2007:

A flier and survey were mailed to residents of the East Millcreek area. Due to a processing error, some residents received multiple mailings. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We have corrected the error with the distribution and mailing company.  Our goal is to inform residents of the planning process and to solicit your feedback, ideas and suggestions. If you have not yet, please take a few minutes to complete the survey regarding the future of the Millcreek Recreation area.
