The Public Works Department includes nine divisions that serve the citizens of Salt Lake County.
Engineering and Flood Control is responsible for the planning, engineering, design, and
construction of County roads, highways, bridges, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and drainage and
flood control facilities.
Operations Division is responsible for the maintenance of roads, bridges, traffic signals,
street lights, storm drain systems, and flood control facilities in the unincorporated county
and in cities that contract for their services.
Planning and Development Services oversees long range planning and development within the
unincorporated County ensuring that all development complies with adopted Salt Lake County
plans, ordinances, and building codes.
Sanitation provides weekly refuse pick-up for residents of the County and County agencies.
Other services include a fall leaf program, Christmas tree drop off, and trailer programs to
assist with yard waste or bulky items.
Solid Waste Management provides an efficient, convenient, and reliable solid waste
drop-off facility, a recycling drop-off center, and compost and mulch for sale
(recycling hotline 974-6902).
