Valley Mental Health (VMH) provides mental health services to Salt Lake County citizens by improving, enhancing, and promoting the emotional well-being and growth of individuals who experience life-disrupting problems due to mental illness and/or chemical abuse and to strengthen the quality of their personal, family and community life.

 

Valley Mental Health: provides over 65 different programs at 35 locations serving more than 17,000 different people annually as well as:.

  • Offers a full continuum of care from most to least restrictive based upon need (inpatient to outpatient).
  • Serves children, adolescents, adults, and senior citizens.
  • Offers group/individual therapy, assessments/evaluations, medications and medication management, crisis intervention and day treatment.
  • Targets adults who are seriously and persistently mentally ill (SPMI), children who are seriously and emotionally disturbed (SED), and people who are indigent.
  • Sets fees using a sliding-fee scale.
  • Provides special services to people who are homeless and mentally ill by helping them connect with needed life-sustaining services (housing, entitlements, etc.) and mental heath care including needed medications.
  • Offers wrap-around services to enable clients to live productive lives in the community (daily living skills training, work training/employment, housing opportunities, education, money-management, help in accessing appropriate care, etc.).

Valley Mental Health is a private, not-for-profit mental health agency serving Salt Lake, Summit, and Tooele counties.

 

Valley Mental Health contracts with Salt Lake County which is the "local mental health authority" to provide services.

 

Valley Mental Health is also the state's designated mental health service provider for people within the County on Medicaid.
