Public services are funded by property taxes. If an increase is proposed, a public hearing is held to diclose reasoning and the amount of the estimated increase. A notice of valuation and tax change is mailed to homeowners annually the last week of July. This notice discloses the market value of a home and proposed property taxes. If you disagree with the market value place on a property by the Salt Lake County Assessor, fill out the appeal form, attach evidence to support the opinion of value, and return the form. The appeal must be received within the time frame indicated at the bottom of a valuation notice (September 15 or 45 days, which ever is longer). Visit this detailed explanation of the "appeal process".
