Bid Procedures and Limits

All purchases and contracts, whether by formal advertising or by negotiation, are made on a competitive basis to the maximum practicable extent.

Salt Lake County agencies may purchase goods and services under $5,000 without formal bidding, but are encouraged to obtain three telephone bids.

Bids up to $50,000 may be solicited by a buyer from Contracts and Procurement in the form of phone or written quotes.

All County contracts and purchases involving amounts in excess of $25,000 and those selected by the buyers are let by formal sealed bidding after advertisement.
