Phone and Mail Home Occupation
The Phone and Mail Application is a short form and can be approved while you wait.
To qualify for a Phone and Mail Home Occupation, you must be able to meet all of the following conditions:
- Business transactions conducted at the home are done only by phone and/or mail;
- There are no customers or employees coming to the home;
- Except for the resident's personal transportation, there shall be no vehicles, equipment, or merchandise stock on the property (personal transportation means automobiles or one pickup truck). Equipment for the business is limited to a desk, drafting table, home computer, answering machine, and other miscellaneous office equipment;
- Only the resident of the home may be involved in the portion of the business conducted at the home;
- No accessory buildings may be involved in the business (e.g., a storage shed).
- No signs are allowed on the property.
If you are not the owner of the home where you will be conducting business, it is necessary for the property owner to sign the Phone and Mail Application authorizing you to do business on the property.
